Talked alot about hip flexors in this mornings Pilates class - we need strong hip flexors it’s ‘good to feel them!’ Strong hip flexors are crucial for posture, stability, and athletic power, while weak hip flexors often lead to lower back pain, poor posture, imbalance, and increased injury risk as other muscles overcompensate. Tight hip flexors can be a weakness, requiring targeted strengthening and stretching for balance, better mobility, and efficient movement. So keep engaging keep lengthening keep moving! #abykateclasses #lovepilates #keepmoving #onlineclasses #BalanceIsKey ... See MoreSee Less

Many people ask me what is the DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOGA & PILATES ...(Please note different teaches may answer this question differently depending on the style they teach) Yoga îs an ancient practise where as Pilates is a modern practise. Both incorporate breathing techniques, building strength and encouraging mindfulness.Yoga generally focuses on whole body movement improving strength and flexibility (agility in vinyasa) using a series of poses (asanas) while Pilates is more strength-focused focusing on core, alignment and posture using controlled repetitive exercises.Yoga uses standing and floor based postures -Vinyasa flowing fron standing to floor, floor to standing, Pilates is predominately floor based.Yoga uses pranayama (breathing practices) and can include relaxation and meditation practices. The idea of Yoga being spiritual yes in the mind body sense but there are no religious connotations in Yoga. Both help release stress and tension in the body (Yin Yoga is great for calming), both work the body, help with balance, and improves coordination. Both should be taught with modifications/levels so you can work at your own level. Hence both are suitable for all ages and fitness levels. (Just note with Yoga - as I teach an Intermediate Flow which would not be suitable for a beginner)Any back injuries or injuries in general, medical conditions which affect balance, blood pressure or heart conditions I would mostly recommend Pilates (maybe to start with). (Again one rule doesn't fit all so if you are unsure please message me)In summary because I teach both .... many of you will notice that even though I keep the classes different and pure to their roots, I allow them to sometimes cross over to benefit everyone 🥰 I love both and they compliment each other brilliantly! Also if you have any questions please message me ✅So currently I teach onlineMONDAY EVENING & WEDNESDAY MORNING PILATESTUESDAY EVENING & FRIDAY MORNING YOGA(Alternating Saturday Mornings Relaxing Yin Yoga) See GYMCATCH gymcatch.com/app/provider/4127/events ...
